I've been interested in behavioral assessment of postoperative pain since 1988, and have extensive experience with the use of computer-assisted videography and accelerometry to measure animal behavior.  In 20 years as a criticalist at NCSU I have developed expertise at management of pain in the critically ill dog and cat.

I am a road cycling enthusiast (3-8,000 miles per year) and an amateur astronomer.  My wife and two children have recently purchased a small farm on which to live and are working mightily to resurrect it as a grass farm and organic garden.
